November 6-9, 2017 Film Gathering – High Country, North Carolina

Come join us in November for the 8th Film Gathering! Set in the High Country (Boone + Blowing Rock) of North Carolina, we will be tucked away in a luxury mountain home a stones throw away from the famous Blue Ridge Parkway, close to many epic vistas and destinations which will become backdrops for our styled shoots.

We will have something for everyone, regardless of your level of film photography experience, or whether you’re a professional or hobbyist. We will take advantage of the landscape and the stunning mountain views to fabricate some adventurous, beautifully styled photo shoots. We are still assembling all the details of the shoots, but plan to have something in the wedding / couples + engagement / and boudoir categories. We are working on education segments, as well as our traditional roundtables where we can learn from each other. Of course there will be time allotted for socializing and relaxing, the cornerstone of this event!

The Film Gathering doesn’t end after each event, either. Each event has it’s own online group where you can continue to interact with your newfound cheerleaders and friends well after the retreat is over, ask questions, share your photos from the event, and continue to learn and be encouraged. You’ll have a new support network behind you as you continue on your film journey.

OUR TEAM

Brent Deitrich – Creator of The Film Gathering, and owner of Live View Studios, Brent has a heart for building community and helping other photographers to learn in a non-competitive environment. Brent is also the publisher of The White Wren, a new wedding publication which launched in Spring 2017 and is growing rapidly. He loves woodworking, trips to the mountains, and eclectic food dives. He shoots both medium format and 35mm film, but believes that 35mm is often highly underrated. His work has been published all over the world in fine art film publications. @liveviewstudios @thewhitewren @brent.d_lvs

Morgane Erisman – Hailing from the mountains of Switzerland, Morgane came into The Film Gathering team last year as the new associate photographer for Live View Studios. She fell in love with shooting film, and is inspired by traveling to different unique destinations. She is also the editor for The White Wren. @morgane.e_lvs @thewhitewren @liveviewstudios

Michelle Clark – Lover of sequins, glitter, and brightly colored hair, Michelle has a real talent for applying beautiful, natural makeup. Her fun and effervescent personality makes everyone that is around her feel relaxed. We have known and worked with Michelle for many years, and it’s always a pleasure when she is able to join us. Her favorite music to sing loudly is Fleetwood Mac and Roxette. @kmichelleclark

INVESTMENT

We try as hard as we can to keep The Film Gathering affordable for everyone. Still, it takes a lot of behind the scenes work, other vendors, and finances to pull off a successful event. Keeping the registration under $1,000 is a marvel in itself, as most workshops that have the caliber of industry professionals that we bring in exceed that by a wide margin. We are doing this as part of our love for the community, not for profit. And, we are quite pleased that our registration is all-inclusive with lodging and meals. The fellowship and conversation that is a result of everyone staying in the same house is unprecedented, and vital for community building.

Regular Registration is $690 / Early Registration is open until August  15, 2017 for $575.

A French Artists Dinner

From the Summer Mini Gathering:

Our newlyweds, recently eloped, are a pair of French artists who wanted to host a celebratory dinner party for their friends. Since they are both artists, they love good design and color – and wanted to have a feast reminiscent of their home country fare, heartfelt and not pretentious.

Most nights they spent curled up together, barefoot, books in hand, or painting and creating beauty. This night, they turned their artistic attention a different way, toward the food they were creating: a rustic salad, assorted radishes with whipped butter, baked brie with smoked apricot, honeycomb, and bread. more “A French Artists Dinner”

Introducing the First Mini-Gathering!

We decided we wanted to offer another opportunity for our community to get together … a sort of reunion for past attendees, a friendly introduction to the full experience for newcomers. The community experience that The Gathering promotes, without the overnight stay.

So, we are partnering with Michelle Wright, Mims House, Belles Catering, Wylde, Silver Fox Calligraphy, BHLDN, and more to come to bring you the first Gathering Summer Soiree.
